Board-certified colon and rectal surgeon in Seattle, Washington

Rodney Kratz, MD, FASCRS

Dr. Rodney Kratz has spent more than 22 years treating conditions that most people find difficult to talk about. Hemorrhoids and fissures. Fistulas and abscesses. Anal HPV and the changes that follow childbirth. Concerns about appearance that patients have carried privately for years.

He founded Precision Proctology to practice a different way: direct access to the surgeon, appointments measured in days rather than months, and a setting where nothing is embarrassing and no question is dismissed.

Why I created Precision Proctology

For more than two decades, I've cared for people with problems that are painful, frightening, and deeply personal problems with how they feel, and problems with how they look. I've learned that successful treatment isn't measured only by whether a wound heals. It's measured by whether someone can exercise again, return to intimacy, stop living in fear, and feel like themselves again.

I created Precision Proctology to give patients direct access to an experienced surgeon, enough time to be understood, and a setting where nothing is embarrassing and no question is dismissed.

My role is to provide expertise. My responsibility is to give you certainty.

How Dr. Kratz practices

You reach him, not a system

Patients call or text the office and reach the practice directly. There is no chain of intake appointments standing between a patient and the specialist.

Days, not months

Same-day and next-day appointments are available. Urgent problems are treated as urgent.

Medical and aesthetic care together

Very few surgeons treat both disease and appearance in this part of the body. Dr. Kratz does, which means patients are not sent to a second practice for concerns that are part of the same picture.

Nothing is unusual here

These conditions are routine in this office. Patients frequently say the visit was easier than the years they spent avoiding it.

Why private practice

For most of his career, Dr. Kratz practiced within the hospital system. It is a model that works well for many things and poorly for a few, and the ones it handles poorly are exactly the problems his patients have: conditions that are painful now, private, and easy to postpone.

In a large system, a patient with severe anorectal pain may wait three to six months for a specialty appointment, after being routed through several people who cannot treat the problem. Many give up before they are seen.

Precision Proctology was built to remove that. Patients contact the office directly, are seen quickly, and are cared for by one surgeon throughout.

Who Dr. Kratz sees

Patients come to Precision Proctology from across the greater Seattle area, Puget Sound, and Vancouver, British Columbia. Some travel considerable distances for care that is not available closer to home.

Dr. Kratz sees patients at the Seattle office daily and at the Mountlake Terrace office on Thursdays.

They arrive at every stage: in acute pain and needing to be seen today, managing something that has gone on for years, following up on an abnormal screening result, recovering from childbirth, or finally addressing a concern about appearance they have never said out loud.

All of it is routine here.

What patients say

Dr. Kratz is the best! He's experienced, knowledgeable, honest, caring and listens and answers any concerns or questions you have. I travel over 4 hours one way for appointments because I know I'm getting the best top notch care available."

"I had been seeing Dr. Kratz for almost 5 years and I was willing to drive an hour from home to keep him as my doctor. Given that what one sees Dr. Kratz for isn't the most pleasant or comfortable, he makes you feel at ease quickly. He is approachable and, as my husband put it, 'not clinical and sterile.' Dr. Kratz explains things clearly and is straightforward about options."

Ellen

"I was stressing out about my medical issue and feeling horrible, but Dr. Kratz looked over my case, immediately put my mind at ease and came up with a treatment plan. I'm honestly very relieved."
